The most shocking disappointment of round 9 was road defeat of second-best Real Madrid to tenth ranked Gran Canaria 59-70. It ended the series of three consecutive victories of Real Madrid. American guard Taurean Green (185-85, college: Florida) stepped up with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his countryman guard Jaycee Carroll (188-83, agent: Brad Ames) helped with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Gran Canaria's coach Pedro Martinez allowed to play his deep bench players and giving the chance to rest for starting five. The best for the losing side was international power forward Felipe Reyes (203-80) with 13 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Sergio Llull (190-87) with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. That victory allowed Gran Canaria (5-4) to climb to seventh place. They share it with Valladolid, Bizkaia Bilbao and Lagun Aro GBC. Real Madrid (7-2) on the other side took second position as they recorded their second loss. Gran Canaria are looking forward to the next round to face Bizkaia Bilbao (#10) on the road. Real Madrid will play against Unicaja (#6) hoping to win this game.
