There was a small upset in Malaga where 5th ranked Valladolid (5-4) was defeated by seventh ranked Unicaja (6-3) 68-61. British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) stepped up with double-double 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American-Bulgarian guard Roderick Blakney (181-76, college: S.Carolina St.) helped with 11 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Jason Robinson (196-80, college: Pikeville) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and his countryman power forward Marcus Slaughter (204-85, college: San Diego St., agent: Misko Raznatovic) with 6 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. That victory allowed Unicaja (6-3) to climb to fourth place. They share it with DKV Joventut and Fuenlabrada. Valladolid (5-4) on the other side went down to seventh position as they recorded their fourth loss. Unicaja are looking forward to the next round to face league's second-placed Real Madrid on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valladolid will play against Meridiano (#18) hoping to win this game.
