Everything went according to plan in Alicante where eighth ranked DKV Joventut (6-3) beat 18th ranked Meridiano (1-8) 75-71. Forward Jordi Trias (207-80) stepped up with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Josep Franch (194-91) helped with 13 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Croatian-German swingman Mario Stojic (198-80, agent: Luciano Capicchioni) with 13 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Meridiano (1-8) added fourth loss to their record. That victory allowed DKV Joventut (6-3) to climb to fourth place. They share it with Unicaja and Fuenlabrada. Meridiano (1-8) on the other side took the bottom position. DKV Joventut are looking forward to the next round to face Lagun Aro GBC (#7) in San Sebastian. Meridiano will play at home against Valladolid (#9) hoping to prove their supporters that they can break losing series.
