Regular Season Round 27: Titanes - Lechugueros 76-94

Very expected game in Mexico City where 16th ranked Titanes (8-27) were defeated by eighth ranked Lechugueros (22-14) 94-76. Lechugueros shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for Jamaican guard Ricky Johns (193-85, college: Utah) who led the winners and scored 30 points and 5 assists. American swingman Mike Smith (201-76, college: La-Monroe) accounted for 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Cameroonian forward Salomon Angounou (202-83, college: Arizona St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and forward Christopher Silva added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Titanes in the defeat. Four Lechugueros and five Titanes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lechugueros moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lobos Grises and Huracanes. Newly promoted Titanes keep the sixteenth position with 27 games lost. Lechugueros' next round opponent will be higher ranked Angeles (#6) in Puebla and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titanes will play at home against Abejas (#14) in Guanajuato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
