Top ranked Pioneros (27-9) recorded its ninth loss in Nuevo Laredo on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Toros (25-11) 96-89. The best player for the winners was naturalized American forward Quentin Joseph (200-84, college: McNeese St.) who scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Ivorian-American forward Brice Assie (201-83, college: W.Connecticut, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Anthony Esparza (196-85, college: Pacific) who recorded 21 points and American center Rammel Allen (210-79, college: Bridgeport) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Four Toros and five Pioneros players scored in double figures. Toros has a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 25-11 record, which they share with Halc.Rojos. Pioneros at the other side still keep top position with nine games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia. Toros is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Volcanes (#18) in Toluca in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pioneros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Fuerza Regia (#2) in Monterrey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
