Regular Season Round 17: Panasonic T. - Toyota Alvark 79-76

The biggest surprise of round 17 was host Panasonic's (#3) very close 3-point victory at home over second-ranked Toyota (11-6) 79-76. The best player for the winners was international guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. International guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) chipped in 14 points. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Takeki Shonaka (180-84) added 22 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Panasonic maintains third place having just two points less than leader Aishin. Toyota keeps the second place with six games lost. Panasonic is looking forward to face league's second-placed Toyota in Fuchu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyota will have a break next round.
