Regular Season Round 11: Black Star - Sparta 93-90

The most exciting game of round 11 in Diekirch League took place in Mersch where host Black Star (#10) surprisingly edged second-ranked Sparta by 3 points 93-90. The best player for the winners was American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-84, college: Ark.-Monticello, agent: John Ebeling) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 24 rebounds. Rui Nunes chipped in 21 points. Forward Rene Wolzfeld (190-91) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Larrie Smith (197-75, college: Tennessee Tech) added 21 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. Sparta's coach Olaf Stolz rotated ten players in such tough game. Newly promoted Black Star maintains tenth place. Sparta dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Black Star is looking forward to face higher ranked Musel Pikes (#7) in Stadrbredimus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sparta will play at home against the league's new leader T71 and will have a slim chance for a victory.
