We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Osaka where 4th placed Toshiba (9-8) was defeated by fifth ranked Hitachi S. (8-9) 78-62. The best player for the winners was the former international center Joji Takeuchi (206-85) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (189-87) chipped in 18 points. American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Cory Violette (203-82, college: Gonzaga) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed his starters a little rest for the next games. Hitachi S. maintains fifth place. Toshiba keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Hitachi S. is looking forward to face higher ranked Toshiba (#4) in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toshiba will have a break next round.
