Regular Season Round 6: Athinaikos - Apollon Ptol. 79-62

League top team - Athinaikos (6-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat eighth ranked Apollon in Athens 79-62. Forward Katerina Chalikia (185-79) notched 13 points to lead the effort and American center Ruth Riley (196-79, college: Notre Dame) who supported him with 10 points. Athinaikos' coach Ioannis Ktistakis used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Nigerian-American power forward Nkem Nkele (185-86, college: Cal-Riverside) did not help to save the game for Apollon. Guard Aglaia Karadima (183-82) added 14 points and 4 assists. Athinaikos (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion of course still keep top position in the standings. Apollon keeps the eighth position with 2-4 record. They have the same record like PAOK. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
