Regular Season Round 16: Shimane SM - Sendai 89ers 77-79

The most interesting game of round 16 in the BJ League was a very close only two-point home a defeat of 5th ranked Shimane to second ranked Sendai 89ers 77-79. It ended the two-game winning streak of Shimane. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Mac Hopson (188-87, college: Idaho) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) who added 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Sendai 89ers' coach Honoo Hamaguchi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center Will Caudle (206-82, college: Xavier) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Shimane players scored in double figures. Despite the victory Sendai 89ers (8-8) stay at second position having just fourteen points less than leader Shiga Lakestars. Shimane who is 7-9 is currently in fifth place as they suffered their ninth loss. Sendai 89ers is looking forward to face Saitama Bron. (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Shimane will play against Takamatsu FA and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
