The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Toshiba's (10-8) road victory over 5th ranked Hitachi S. (8-10) in Osaka 83-71. It was a good game for American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. International power forward Yoshifumi Kuwahara (200-80) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Guard K.J. Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) replied with 21 points and the former international center Joji Takeuchi (206-85) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Hitachi S. Both coaches used bench players which allowed his starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba jumped to the third spot. They share the position with Panasonic. Hitachi S. keeps the fifth position. They have the same record like Tochigi Brex. Toshiba is looking forward to face league's second-placed Toyota in Fuchu in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hitachi S.'s supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Osaka to the arena Panasonic.
