Regular Season Round 10: Fjolnir - Grindavik 69-86

Very expected game when 7th ranked Fjolnir (4-6) was defeated at home by second ranked Grindavik (8-2) 86-69 on Thursday. Grindavik trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and getting 17-point victory. Grindavik dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Fjolnir's 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international swingman Pall Axel Vilbergsson (197-78) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Italian power forward Ryan Pettinella (206-84, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Aegir Steinarsson (182-91) produced 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Ingvaldur Hafsteinsson (200-81) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Grindavik and four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players seeing no chance for a win. Despite the victory Grindavik stay at second position having just one point less than leader Snaefell. Fjolnir is currently in seventh place with a 4-6 record as they suffered their sixth loss. Grindavik will meet Keflavik (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fjolnir will play against IR (#11) in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
