Regular Season Round 19: Kouvot - Salon Vilpas 81-68

Very expected game in Kouvola where 10th ranked Salon Vilpas (4-15) was defeated by fifth ranked Kouvot (12-8) 81-68. The game rather controlled by Kouvot. Salon Vilpas managed to win fourth quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Grayson Moyer (196-86, college: Humboldt St., agent: Michael Hart) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Ville Kaunisto (204-82) accounted for 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. The former international forward Jukka Kataja (197-82) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Nigerian guard Nick Okorie (185-88, college: Texas Tech) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Salon Vilpas in the defeat. Salon Vilpas' coach Kimmo Vyyrylainen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kouvot has a solid series of three victories in a row. The victory allowed Kouvot (12-8) to climb to the fourth place. Salon Vilpas lost fifth consecutive game. The team is currently in tenth position with a 4-15 record. Kouvot will play against Namika Lahti (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Salon Vilpas will play against the league's leader KTP-Basket in Kotka and hopes to get back on the winning track.
