There was no surprise when 14th ranked AEK/Argous (1-5) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Lavrio (4-2) 68-62 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. AEK/Argous was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Lavrio forced 20 AEK/Argous turnovers. Strangely AEK/Argous outrebounded Lavrio 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Giannis Kakiouzis (205-78) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Michalis Perakis (207-84) chipped in 13 points. Lavrio's coach Christos Serellis used a eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Icelandic guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln (MO)) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian center Ivan Kartelo (208-79, college: Purdue) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Lavrio moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. AEK/Argous lost fourth consecutive game. AEK/Argous at the other side, also first year in the league, dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Lavrio will face Panelefsiniakos (#7) in Eleusina in the next round where they are favorite. AEK/Argous will play at home against Near East (#10) in Kesariani.
