Regular Season Round 20: Toyota Alvark - Toshiba BT 62-65

The biggest surprise of round 20 was guest Toshiba Thunders' (#4) very close 3-point road victory over second-ranked Toyota Alvark (13-7) 65-62 on Sunday evening. It also means the end of Toyota Alvark's two-game winning streak. Toyota Alvark was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Toshiba Thunders made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) who scored 16 points. International power forward Yoshifumi Kuwahara (200-80) chipped in 15 points. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toshiba Thunders maintains fourth position with 11-9 record. Toyota Alvark at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Toshiba Thunders is looking forward to face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Toyota Alvark will play at home against Tochigi Brex and is hoping to win this game.
