Very predictable result in Rodou where fifth ranked VAP Kolossos (5-3) outscored 11th ranked Panionios (3-5) 73-49 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 43-18 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. VAP Kolossos dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 26. VAP Kolossos forced 20 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 33-21 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American swingman Pat Kalathis (208-85, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Arik Krayn Services) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 8 rebounds and guard Angelos Tsamis (192-81) who added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four VAP Kolossos players scored in double figures. The former international forward Nikos Barlos (202-79) responded with 8 points and 6 rebounds and guard Marios Batis (188-80) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VAP Kolossos has a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Peristeri GS and Kavala. Loser Panionios dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with AEK. VAP Kolossos will meet Ikaros (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Panionios will play against Kavala and hope to secure a win.
