Another exciting game where fourth ranked Kavala (5-3) edged by three points 10th ranked AEK (3-5) 89-86. AEK was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 51-41 second half run of Kavala. They made 27-of-32 charity shots (84.4 percent) during the game. AEK was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Belizean guard Milton Palacio (190-78, college: Colorado St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. Serbian forward Branko Jorovic (205-81, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four Kavala players scored in double figures. American guard Anthony Grundy (189-79, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) replied with 25 points and naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78) added 15 points in the effort for AEK. Kavala moved-up to third place, which they share with Peristeri GS and VAP Kolossos. AEK at the other side keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Panionios. Kavala will play against Panionios (#11) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AEK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
