Another very interesting game took place in Tampico. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Halcones Rojos (25-11) to ninth ranked Huracanes (22-14) 71-68 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Halcones Rojos. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Halcones Rojos won third quarter 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Huracanes won last quarter 25-24. It was a great evening for American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 4 blocks. The former international guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican center Jeffrion Aubry (205-76, college: Cornell, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and American forward Lawrence Hill (203-87, college: Stanford) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Huracanes has a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lechugueros and Lobos Grises. Loser Halcones Rojos dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Toros. Huracanes will meet at home higher ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones Rojos will play against Ola Verde in Poza Rica and hope to secure a win.
