Regular Season Round 11: IR - Fjolnir 107-99

An interesting game took place in Reykjavik where higher ranked Fjolnir (4-7) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked IR (4-7) 107-99. The game without a history. IR lead from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. 24 personal fouls commited by Fjolnir helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international power forward Kristinn Jonasson (205-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Kelly Biedler (196-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ben Stywall (196-87, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Strategic Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and international guard Aegir Steinarsson (182-91) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists in the effort for Fjolnir. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite the victory IR (3-8) stay at eleventh position. Fjolnir lost their third straight game in a row. They are currently 4-7 and went down to eighth place. IR's next round opponent will be higher ranked Keflavik (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
