Leader Pioneros delivered the twentieth seventh win on Thursday night. This time they crushed 18th ranked Volcanes (2-34) 140-64 in Cancun. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Volcanes to just 5 points in first quarter. Pioneros well out of reach of Volcanes shooting 71.6 percent from the field. They outrebounded Volcanes 59-26 including a 47-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Pioneros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Volcanes' players. The former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Mesa St.) fired 25 points and 7 assists for the winners. American center Rammel Allen (210-79, college: Bridgeport) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Pioneros players scored in double figures. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) produced 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Calvin Roland (208-83, college: Va Commonwealth) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Pioneros maintains first place with 27-9 record, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Volcanes lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 34 lost games. Pioneros is again looking forward to face bottom-ranked Volcanes (#18) in Toluca in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Volcanes will have a break next round.
