Regular Season Round 21: Toshiba BT - Aishin SH 72-81

Another interesting game for Aishin Sea Horses (16-5) which played in Kanagawa against Toshiba Thunders (11-10). First ranked Aishin Sea Horses won 81-72. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-11. But Toshiba Thunders won second quarter 25-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (205-85) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American power forward Cory Violette (203-82, college: Gonzaga) with 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Aishin Sea Horses and four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They of course still keep top position in the standings. Toshiba Thunders stay at the fourth place. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toshiba Thunders will play at home against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses (#1) in Kariya and hopes to get back on the winning track.
