Regular Season Round 21: ToPo - Pyrinto 74-86

Very expected game when 7th ranked Torpan Pojat (10-11) lost to second ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (15-6) in Helsinki 74-86 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Tampereen Pyrinto. Torpan Pojat managed to win fourth quarter 29-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tampereen Pyrinto made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Kenneth Lowe (192-80, college: Purdue, agency: Warren Sports International) accounted for 22 points. Four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan, agency: Beo Basket) came up with 23 points and 9 rebounds and forward Timo Heinonen (198-81) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Torpan Pojat in the defeat. Defending champion did not change their second position in the standings. Torpan Pojat dropped to the eighth place. Tampereen Pyrinto will meet at home bottom-ranked Porvoon Tarmo (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Torpan Pojat will play against Namika Lahti (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
