Date: December 18, 2010
Fifth-ranked Tochigi Brex (8-13) used it's home court advantage to challenge second ranked Toyota Alvark (14-7) on Saturday. The visitors from Fuchu managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 17 points after three quarters before their 28-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). His fellow American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds and American-Libyan power forward Randy Holcomb (204-79, college: San Diego St., agency: Edge Sports) added 13 points in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Four Toyota Alvark and five Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark did not change their second position in the standings. Tochigi Brex lost third consecutive game. Last year champion dropped to the sixth place. They have the same record like Mitsubishi. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tochigi Brex will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) in Fuchu and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
