We should definitely mention a derby match between two teams from Bursa: Tofas (#14) and Oyak Renault (#13). Tofas (3-7) smashed visiting Oyak Renault (2-8) by 24 points 92-68. Oyak Renault was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Tofas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Oyak Renault's 30. Tofas forced 20 Oyak Renault turnovers and outrebounded them 38-20 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Swingman Austin Nichols (198-82, college: Humboldt St.) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola (MD)) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Tofas players scored in double figures. Forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jonathan Gibson (183-88, college: N.Mexico St.) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tofas jumped to the eleventh spot. They share the position with Trabzonspor and Aliaga. Oyak Renault dropped to the fifteenth place. Tofas' next round opponent will be league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Oyak Renault will play at home against the league's second-placed Galatasaray (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
