No shocking result in a game in Tampico where second ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (26-10) defeated 9th ranked Huracanes (22-14) 82-74 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-18. But Huracanes won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Huracanes 39-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian-Uruguayan guard Leandro Garcia Morales (186-80, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and American power forward Robert Traylor (204-77, college: Michigan) who added 17 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. American guard Tony Bobbitt (193-79, college: Cincinnati) responded with 29 points and the former international guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists. Despite that victory Halcones UV Xalapa went down to third position due to points difference. Huracanes at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Lechugueros and Lobos Grises. Halcones UV Xalapa will meet at home Panteras (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Huracanes will play against Soles (#10) in Mexicali and hope to secure a win.
