No shocking result in a game when third ranked Cairns Taipans (9-4) defeated at home 5th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (9-7) 56-51. Townsville Crocodiles were ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 14-5 charge of Cairns Taipans, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Townsville Crocodiles to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Center Ian Crosswhite (212-82, college: Oregon) notched 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) supported him with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
