No shocking result in a game when third ranked Cairns Taipans (9-4) defeated at home 5th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (9-7) 56-51. Townsville Crocodiles were ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 14-5 charge of Cairns Taipans, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Townsville Crocodiles to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Center Ian Crosswhite (212-82, college: Oregon) notched 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) supported him with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by the former international guard Peter Crawford (193-79) did not help to save the game for Townsville Crocodiles. The former international center Luke Schenscher (216-82, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) added 10 points for lost side. Townsville Crocodiles' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cairns Taipans has a solid three-game winning streak.
