There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Oita Heat Devils (7-10) won on the road against 7th ranked Saitama Broncos (4-15) 83-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Saitama Broncos managed to win third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oita Heat Devils dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 46. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Damian Johnson (201-87, college: Minnesota, agency: Edge Sports) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Rolando Howell (206-82, college: S.Carolina) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. American guard Kenny Satterfield (188-81, college: Cincinnati) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fairleigh Dickinson) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Saitama Broncos in the defeat. Oita Heat Devils did not change their seventh position in the standings. Saitama Broncos lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place. Oita Heat Devils will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saitama Broncos will play against Oita Heat Devils (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
