Very expected game when 13th ranked Khimik (3-16) lost to fifth ranked Azovmash (12-8) in Yuzhny 95-100 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-95. Azovmash shot 61.9 percent from the field and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) notched 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Chris Owens (204-79, college: Texas, agency: Pro One Sports) who supported him with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 24 points and 5 assists by American guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) did not help to save the game for Khimik. Bosnian forward Toni Bizaca (202-82) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for lost side. Five Azovmash and four Khimik players scored in double figures. Khimik's coach Zoran Martic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion did not change their fifth position in the standings. Khimik lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the last place with a total of 16 lost games. Azovmash will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Khimik will play against BC Kyiv (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
