We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 14th ranked Gornik (3-11) lost to fifteenth ranked Astoria (4-11) in Walbrzych 75-80 on Saturday. Astoria made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Sebastian Laydych (203-87) who led the winners and scored 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Artur Gliszczynski (178-81) accounted for 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winning side. Four Astoria players scored in double figures. Forward Maciej Ustarbowski (201-87, college: NW Missouri St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and guard Jakub Kietlinski (178-89) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for Gornik in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Astoria jumped to the thirteenth spot. They share the position with Start Lublin. Gornik lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth place. Astoria will meet league's leader AZS Politechnika Warszawska in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gornik will play against Olimp MKS Start Lublin (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
