Leader Pioneros delivered the twentieth seventh win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 18th ranked Volcanes (2-34) 124-71 in Cancun. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Volcanes' 32. Pioneros forced 19 Volcanes turnovers and outrebounded them 41-24 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. Pioneros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Rammel Allen (210-79, college: Bridgeport) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Mesa St.) chipped in 25 points. Five Pioneros players scored in double figures. Pioneros' coach Alberto Espasandin felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) produced 28 points and his fellow American import power forward Calvin Roland (208-83, college: Va Commonwealth) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Pioneros maintains first position with 27-9 record, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Volcanes lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 34 lost games. Pioneros is looking forward to face Lechugueros (#7) in Leon in the next round where they are favorite.
