Regular Season Round 4: Shanghai S. - Guangsha L. 96-89 OT

Shanghai Sharks (2-2) outlasted Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (2-2) in overtime by seven points 96-89 on Sunday night. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 26-20 charge of Shanghai Sharks, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-5. Shanghai Sharks forced 20 Zhejiang Guangsha Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 64-38 including a 27-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and international guard Wei Liu (190-80) who added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican center Peter John Ramos (222-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and Taiwanese swingman Chih-Chieh Lin (192-82) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory allowed Shanghai Sharks (2-2) to climb to the seventh place. They share it with Liaoning and Zhejiang G.L. Shanghai Sharks will face Zhejiang Cyclones (#13) in Hangzhou in the next round where they are favorite.
