Regular Season Round 4: Foshan LL - Shanxi Zh. 96-91

Foshan has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (1-2) 96-91. Shanxi Zhongyu was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 47-41 second half run of Foshan. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) who scored that evening 18 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and forward Yong-gang Zhao (200-82) supported him with 22 points. Five Foshan players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds by American forward Leon Rodgers (199-80, college: N.Illinois) did not help to save the game for Shanxi Zhongyu. Jordanian guard Osama Daghlas (199-79, college: Midwestern St.) added 15 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory allowed Foshan (1-3) to climb to the thirteenth place. They share it with three other teams. Shanxi Zhongyu who is 1-2 went down to tenth position. Foshan will play against higher ranked TianJin Rongcheng (#12) in Tianjin in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Shanxi Zhongyu will play at home against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Hangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
