Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked MKS Znicz Basket (8-7) defeated bottom-ranked Polonia 2011 (3-12) in Warszawa 94-86 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the first quarter 25-19. But Polonia 2011 won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MKS Znicz Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Przemyslaw Szymanski (198-84) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Marek Szumelda-Krzycki (191-91, agency: Promotex) accounted for 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Guard Michal Michalak (194-93) came up with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals and guard Michal Jankowski (192-87) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Polonia 2011 in the defeat. Five MKS Znicz Basket and four Polonia 2011 players scored in double figures. Polonia 2011's coach Arkadius Miloszewski tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. MKS Znicz Basket jumped to the eighth spot. Polonia 2011 lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the last position with a total of 12 lost games. MKS Znicz Basket will meet at home higher ranked Rosasport (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Polonia 2011 will play against LKS Sphinx (#7) in Lodz and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the PLK just one year after relegation.
