A very interesting game took place in Lodi. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Immobiliare SR (7-5) to eleventh ranked Assigeco BPL (5-7) 78-81 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Immobiliare SR. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the first quarter 20-15. But Immobiliare SR won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Assigeco BPL made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored 25 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Assigeco BPL's coach Marco Calvani used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Quadre Lollis (200-73, college: Montana St.) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and swingman Terrence Roderick (195-88, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Assigeco BPL moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Immobiliare SR keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Assigeco BPL will face higher ranked Sigma Barcellona (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
