The biggest surprise of round 8 in the A2 took place in Athens. Fifteenth ranked Amyntas Dafnis (3-5) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-ranked AGOR (5-3) 86-84 on Wednesday evening. AGOR was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 33-26 charge of Amyntas Dafnis, which allowed them to win the game. Amyntas Dafnis shot 28 for 39 from the free-throw line, while AGOR only scored twelve points from the stripe. Amyntas Dafnis forced 21 AGOR turnovers. Strangely AGOR outrebounded Amyntas Dafnis 43-23 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by AGOR helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Swingman Fedonas Pagonis (197-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Forward Pigas Papargiropoulos (202-86) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Amyntas Dafnis players scored in double figures. Guard Giannis Kiriakopoulos (185-83) replied with 27 points and 4 assists and guard Giorgos Koumoulos (185-78) added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for AGOR. AGOR's coach Stergios Koufos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Amyntas Dafnis moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams. AGOR at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Amyntas Dafnis is looking forward to face higher ranked Arkadikos (#6) in Arkadia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
