Regular Season Round 15: Alcazar Adepal - Clinicas Rincon 68-72

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Alcazar where 12th ranked Fundacion Adepal (6-9) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Clinicas Rincon (6-9) 72-68 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fundacion Adepal won third quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Clinicas Rincon forced 21 Fundacion Adepal turnovers. Strangely Fundacion Adepal outrebounded Clinicas Rincon 39-19 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Carlos Cobos (-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points. Power forward Pablo Almazan (203-89) helped adding 12 points and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was Trinidad and Tobago power forward Duane Virgil (205-74, college: Murray St.) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Jerod Ward (206-76, college: Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Clinicas Rincon moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Breogan and Alcazar. Clinicas Rincon will meet at home higher ranked La Laguna (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fundacion Adepal will play against the league's second-placed CB Murcia (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
