A2 top team - KAOD (7-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Periko/Arhelaos (4-4) in Perikos 73-56. The game was mostly controlled by KAOD. Periko/Arhelaos managed to win third quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KAOD forced 23 Periko/Arhelaos turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Montenegrin center Ljubo Jovanovic (206-87) who scored that evening 18 points and 9 rebounds and forward Vassili Kitsoulis (204-83) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by American-German center Urule Igbavboa (206-87, college: Valparaiso) did not help to save the game for Periko/Arhelaos. Forward Giannis Papachristos (194-80) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Periko/Arhelaos' coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. KAOD have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Newly promoted Periko/Arhelaos dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Ermis Lagkada and Apollon Patras. KAOD will meet at home Apollon Patras (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Periko/Arhelaos will play against the league's second-placed AGOR in Rethymno and hope to secure a win.
