A very interesting game took place in Gwynneville. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Wollongong Hawks (9-6) to seventh ranked Gold Coast Blaze (6-9) 72-70 on Thursday evening. Wollongong Hawks were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 13-10 charge of Gold Coast Blaze, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. International guard Adam Gibson (188-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Ira Clark (203-75, college: Texas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Gold Coast Blaze players scored in double figures. American guard Gary Ervin (186-83, college: Arkansas) answered with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Oscar Forman (205-82) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Wollongong Hawks. Gold Coast Blaze moved-up to sixth place. Wollongong Hawks lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. Gold Coast Blaze will play against league's second-placed Perth Wildcats at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wollongong Hawks will play against Adelaide 36ers in Findon and hope to get back on the winning track.
