An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Akita. Third ranked Niigata Albirex faced 4th placed Akita Happinets. Guests from Niigata (10-9) defeated host Akita Happinets (7-14) 81-75. Akita Happinets were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 24-10 third quarter run of Niigata Albirex. It was a good game for Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Zachary Andrews (203-85, college: Bradley) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Makoto Hasegawa (186-71) answered with 28 points and American forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Akita Happinets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niigata Albirex has a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-9 record having eleven points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita Happinets will play again at home against Niigata Albirex (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
