Regular Season Round 21: Kyoto Hannar. - Fukuoka Rizing 99-74

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Fukuoka Rizing (12-9) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (11-10) 99-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kyoto Hannaryz. Fukuoka Rizing managed to win third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyoto Hannaryz dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Fukuoka Rizing's 48. Kyoto Hannaryz outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 46-31 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (186-69, college: LSU) chipped in 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Michael Parker (200-81, college: Evergreen St.) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and Brazilian center Thiago Cordeiro (208-85, college: Arkansas Tech) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Kyoto Hannaryz and four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kyoto Hannaryz. They maintain fifth place with 11-10 record. Loser Fukuoka Rizing keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Kyoto Hannaryz will face again higher ranked Fukuoka Rizing (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
