There was no surprise when 8th ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (6-16) were defeated on the road by second ranked Sendai 89ers (12-8) 93-86 on Saturday. Miyazaki Shining Suns trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 27-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-93 at the end of the game. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Mac Hopson (188-87, college: Idaho) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Brandon Cole (203-84, college: Xavier, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Elijah Palmer (201-81, college: Duquesne, agency: Court Side) added 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain second place with 12-8 record having eight points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Loser Miyazaki Shining Suns keep the eighth position with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
