An interesting game for Maccabi Ashdod (7-4) which hosted in Ashdod second-ranked Hapoel J-M (7-4). Third ranked Maccabi Ashdod had an easy win 98-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel J-M. The game without a history. Maccabi Ashdod led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel J-M's 28 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hapoel J-M's players. American swingman Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Meir Tapiro (194-75, agency: Avi Zilberman) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Ofer Berkovic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jason Rich (191-86) answered with 17 points and 4 assists and international forward Lior Hakmon (202-85, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel J-M. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod has a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Hapoel J-M. Maccabi Ashdod is looking forward to face Maccabi Rishon (#7) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Hapoel J-M will play at home against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) in Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
