The biggest surprise of round 7 in the CBA took place in Hangzhou. Leader DongGuan Leopards (6-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (4-3) 115-112 on Sunday evening slightly avoiding a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 38-25 charge, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards forced 19 Zhejiang Guangsha Lions turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when DongGuan Leopards made 7 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Zhejiang Guangsha Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Lebanese power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 blocks. Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) contributed with 30 points for the winners. Five DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. American-Puerto Rican center Peter John Ramos (222-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Javaris Crittenton (196-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) added 25 points, 10 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. DongGuan Leopards have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record, which they share with Xinjiang. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. DongGuan Leopards is looking forward to face Zhejiang Cyclones (#15) in Hangzhou in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play at home against Foshan (#11) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
