No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Galil Gilboa (6-5) crushed at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa (2-7) 85-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-65. Galil Gilboa made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Galil Gilboa had a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Gal Mekel (195-88, college: Wichita St.) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 7 assists. American forward Warren Carter (206-85, college: Illinois) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Galil Gilboa players scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa's coach Lior Lubin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Galil Gilboa will meet Ironi Ashkelon (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Maccabi Haifa will play against Elitzur Netanya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
