Regular Season Round 22: KTP - Kouvot 72-63

An interesting game for KTP-Basket (18-4) which hosted in Kotka 4th ranked Kouvot (13-9). First ranked KTP-Basket managed to get a 9-point victory 72-63. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kouvot. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kouvot won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Kouvot outrebounded KTP-Basket 49-37 including 19 on the offensive glass. American players dominated the game. Forward Jerald Fields (201-82, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Lanshire Group) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. Four KTP-Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Durell Vinson (201-85, college: Wagner) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 25 rebounds and guard B.A. Walker (188-84, college: Va Commonwealth, agency: Pro One Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. KTP-Basket maintains first position with 18-4 record. Kouvot at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Korihait. KTP-Basket will play against Espoo Honka (#4) on the road in the next round. Kouvot will play against Torpan Pojat in Helsinki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
