Very predictable result in Ningbo where sixth ranked Bayi Fubang (5-3) defeated 12th ranked Qingdao Double Star (2-5) 104-99 on Wednesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Qingdao Double Star trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 39-32 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 99-104 at the end of the game. Bayi Fubang made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game, while Qingdao Double Star only scored eleven points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was the former international center ZhiZhi Wang (214-79) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Shuo Han (196-86) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Bayi Fubang moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shanghai and Zhejiang G.L. Loser Qingdao Double Star keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with Shanxi Zh. and Foshan. Bayi Fubang will meet Shandong Bulls (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Qingdao Double Star will play against Jiangsu Dragons in Nanjing and hope to secure a win.
