Regular Season Round 9: Guangdong ST - Fujian QB 110-101

There was no surprise in Dongguan where 17th ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (1-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Guandong Tigers (6-2) 110-101 on Friday. Fujian SBS XunXin trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 35-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 101-110 at the end of the game. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International swingman ShiPeng Wang (197-83) stepped up and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American guard Fred Jones (193-79, college: Oregon) chipped in 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was American swingman Andre Emmett (196-82, college: Texas Tech) with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and the other American import center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Five Guandong Tigers and four Fujian SBS XunXin players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They maintain fourth place with 6-2 record. Fujian SBS XunXin lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet at home Bayi Fubang (#5) in the next round. Fujian SBS XunXin will have a break next round.
