Regular Season Round 12: 36ers - Hawks 98-83
Date: December 31, 2010
The game in Findon was quite interesting. 4th ranked Wollongong Hawks (9-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Adelaide 36ers (5-9). Adelaide 36ers defeated Wollongong Hawks 98-83. The game was mostly controlled by Adelaide 36ers. Wollongong Hawks managed to win fourth quarter 31-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Wollongong Hawks 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Eddie Shannon (180-77, college: Florida) who scored that evening 23 points and 4 assists and the former international swingman Brad Hill (198-86) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 5 assists by the former international swingman Mat Campbell (196-76, college: Towson) did not help to save the game for Wollongong Hawks. The former international forward Oscar Forman (205-82) added 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Adelaide 36ers went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with Tigers. Wollongong Hawks lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Adelaide 36ers' next round opponent will be league's leader New Zealand Breakers in Auckland and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Wollongong Hawks will play on the road against Gold Coast Blaze in Broadbeach and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
