Regular Season Round 12: Tigers - 36ers 87-66
Date: January 2, 2011
The game in Melbourne supposed to be quite interesting. 6th ranked Adelaide 36ers (5-9) played at the court of eighth ranked Melbourne Tigers (5-9). Melbourne Tigers smashed Adelaide 36ers 87-66 on Sunday. The game without a history. Melbourne Tigers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide 36ers' 28. Worth to mention a great performance of Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists and the former international center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) who added 23 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Eddie Shannon (180-77, college: Florida) with 13 points and the former international swingman Brad Hill (198-86) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Melbourne Tigers has a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 36ers. Melbourne Tigers will meet league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Adelaide 36ers will play against the league's leader New Zealand Breakers (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
