Another upset was a game between Shanghai Sharks (5-5) and Qingdao Double Star (3-6), which took place in Qingdao. Higher ranked Shanghai Sharks lost to fourteenth ranked Qingdao Double Star in a road game 91-96. Shanghai Sharks were ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 32-14 third quarter run of Qingdao Double Star. Qingdao Double Star shot 29 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Shanghai Sharks only scored nine points from the stripe. Qingdao Double Star forced 25 Shanghai Sharks turnovers. 32 personal fouls committed by Shanghai Sharks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) fired 44 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) added 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Qingdao Double Star moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Shandong and Foshan. Shanghai Sharks at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Qingdao Double Star's next round opponent will be Shanxi Zhongyu (#15) in Taiyuan.
